I made a TBR for September! On my YouTube Channel, I started asking for book recs for each month. I am choosing the top 4 books, any genre, from my weekly vlogs that get the most attention and comment replies. I write this blog and film YouTube videos so I can talk to people about books, so it makes sense that I read some books that you guys want to talk about. If you want to get in on this action click here and reply in the comment section the book, you want me the read on my most recent Weekly Vlog. I try to post my weekly updates here on the blog but some times I can’t get to it.

September TBR Picks From You Guys

I like going into books blind. Another reason why I think asking you guys for recs each month will be fun. So I am going to give very little of an overview. Just enough to tell you if I think I will like it or not. I will link these books to amazon and good reads for you guys to check out if you want to.

So my friend @LiteratureLila gave me some recs for September. Both of these books I have had my eye on, but this just moves them to the top of the TBR list.

Scythe Book cover
Scythe by Neal Shusterman

Goodreads Amazon BookShop

Scythe is a young adult sci-fi fantasy dystopian. I have seen this book reviewed a ton on booktube and a few blogs. It seems the be well-liked.

This world is basically the definition of utopia. No hunger, sickness, or death. Which leaves a population problem. So they train teens (Scythes) to kill people for population control.

I should love this book. I’m assuming it has some of my favorite tropes. Dark topics, training school, old wise mentor maybe? I’m curious how they justify who they kill and why they kill them. Or is it just at random?

A Song Of Wraiths and Ruin book cover image
A Song of Wraiths and Ruin by Roseanne Brown

Goodreads Amazon BookShop

A Song of Wraiths and Ruin is a young adult fantasy. It seems to be enemies to lovers’ romance. They both have a goal to kill each other. He needs to kill her to get his sister back, she needs to kill him to keep her kingdom. It sounds like the perfect match.

I am looking forward to how they solve this problem. I’m assuming since it is a romance that they don’t kill each other. But they do make attempts. Well, I hope they do because that would make for a great story. A kind of Mr. and Mrs. Smith story. I want to know how they solve both of there problems without killing each other. But I would like to see them try first.

September TBR Book Cover image The Great Hunt by Robert Jordan
The Great Hunt by Robert Jordan

Goodreads Amazon BookShop

I am currently reading The Eye of the World in Robert Jordan’s, epic fantasy, Wheel of Time series. I have been told that The Great Hunt is where the series magic system really picks up. So I am excited about that. I have been also told that I need to stay off the internet, not to even google the character names because there are spoilers EVERYWHERE!!

I am liking The Eye of the World so far. It took some time getting use to Robert Jordan’s writing style. It is very detailed. I am listening to the series on audio as well as reading the physical book at the same time. Since I am not a fast reader, reading it on audio and physical allows me to read it faster while still comprehending everything.

Self-Published Fantasy Month TBR Picks

It is Self-Published Fantasy Month!! If you want to participate Check out these links.

I am super excited to participate in Self-Published Fantasy Month. I love reading self-pub and indie authors. One of my favorite authors is an indie author. Cough.. Elizabeth Hunter.

Sting of Thorns by Kristen Brand book Cover
Sting of Thorns by Kristen Brand

Goodreads Amazon

Sting of Thorns is the second book in the Dark and Otherworldly series. I loved the first book Poison and Honey see my review here. Sting of Thorns comes out September 15 so make sure you go check it out.

This is an enemies to lovers romance. It is a slow burn yet so intense. Considering how Poison and Honey ended, I am sure that I won’t be disappointed.

Run into the Fire Book Cover image
Run Into The Fire by Sean Padraig

Goodreads Amazon

I know absolutely nothing about this book. The reason why I bought this book was because, on the back, it says something about dragons tasting like chicken. So I couldn’t not buy it!!! I have to know, do dragons taste like chicken?

Stormlight Archive Read-a-thon

So Rhythm of War by Brandon Sanderson comes out on November 17th. I have not read the Stormlight Archive series yet so I figured this would be a good time. I could binge all 3 over thousand-page books and be done right before the 4th book comes out! Maybe!!! It also helps I have extra encouragement in the form of a read-a-thon!!! There is also a discord server too. So if you’re interested check it out.

The Way of Kings book cover image
The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson

I feel like the last person on earth who hasn’t read this series. So I’m just going to hang my head in shame.

What are you reading? Let me know in the comments below!!!
